Ear Punches are used as a way to identify laboaratory animals and they are an inexpensive alternative can be used as a alternative to tattooing and ear tags. They can also be used for genotyping and other biopsy assays. The punches come in different diamters, 1mm, 1.5mm, and2 mm; and three different styles, ring handles, easy-grip, and short clip.

The Ring Handle style gives better stability and control over the Short Clip Ear Punches. The Easy-Grip have long handles that give good leverage and ensure that the technician’s hand is well away from the animal. They are ergonomic and easy on the fingers, unlike the ring handle and short clip-style punches. The Easy-Grip Ear Punch also features a rotating hole disk that allows for 1mm and 2mm punches with one instrument.
