General Use: TEM Surfaces: TEM Grids - Copper, Molybdenum, Gold, Silver, Titanium, Nickel, Aluminum, Beryllium, Carbon
Holds grids during filming; allows coating underneath, hole size 2.4mm.
Stainless steel mesh platform holds grids during coating. The two sizes are meant for standard 75 and 100mm petri dishes. Jaffe Wick Washers are frequently used in coating TEM grids for asbestos analysis including AHERA. Stainless steel mesh is resistant to acetone and other common solvents.
Dimensions 75mm size: 47.6 x 44.5 x 6.4mm (1.875 x 1.75 x 0.25"). 100mm size: 63.5 x 51 x 6.4mm (2.5 x 2 x 0.25").
Image at left/below shows Jaffe Wick Washer in a 100mm petri dish (#14003), with cut tissue paper (#808-1) and AHERA TEM grids.
The PELCO® TEM Grid Holder Blocks are designed to hold a number of TEM grids when they need to cleaned in a glow discharge system such as the PELCO easiGlow™ system or if they need to be coated in a carbon coater such as the Cressington 208C High Vacuum Carbon Coater.
The TEM grid holder blocks are made of a solid piece of vacuum grade aluminum and have recessed positions for each grid with slots for easy loading and lifting the grids with fine pointed tweezers. Each position also has an additional center recess to avoid any contact with the grid support area and the block. Handling of TEM grids with these blocks is much easier and more secure than using glass slides.
The PELCO® C-clip TEM Grid Holder Block is designed to hold 3mm or 3.05mm TEM grids securely at the rim for grid coating, processing, and handling. It can be used in vacuum deposition systems for applications such as carbon evaporation, sputtering or electron beam deposition. This system is advantageous over “clamping” style grid holder blocks in that the grids are locked into place by the C-clips, fixing their orientation and preventing free rotation of the grids. Additionally the C-clips are much lower profile as compared to a clamping plate, preventing “shadowing” and exposing much more of the surface of the grid.
This block holds a maximum of 45 grids in a densely packed area. The base of the grid holder has venting holes (Ø1mm) for vacuum pumping with counter bored cavities to hold the TEM grids and C-clips. Grooves are provided for easy loading and removing the TEM grids.
Clipping and De-clipping Tools are available to simplify placing and removal of C-clips. The PELCO® C-clip TEM Grid Holder Block is available individually (#16840-45) as well as kitted with all the tools needed to use this system effectively (#16840).
