Glass Knife Angles
As specimens vary in hardness and embeddings change with temperature,
humidity or age, their cutting properties are also influenced.
The angle of the knife is probably the most important cutting
parameter in overcoming sectioning problems associated with these
changes.

Glass knives can be custom-made to any angle to suit any specimen or embedment. The
best angle can be found quickly and economically. The diamond knife with its fixed
angle is unable to compete with the versatility of glass, regarding angles.
Glass Knife Sharpness
A diamond cannot compete in sharpness with a freshly fractured glass cutting edge.
ALKAR glass knives cut thinner sections, with less distortion than diamond knives
on many specimens.
Glass Knife Economy
After sectioning is completed, the glass knife is discarded. No need for tedious
cleaning and the constant fear of damage. See Broken Glass Disposal Box in
Glass Knife Accessories.
