Sr. Life Sciences Product Specialist


Ted Pella, Inc., a worldwide leader in the microscopy supplies and instrumentation field, is seeking candidates for a Sr. Life Sciences Product Specialist (Sr. LSPS). This position is responsible for Life Science product development and support activities, as well as sales and marketing and R&D activities of all kinds, in particular those related to Histology and the Life Sciences. This position works closely with the Life Sciences Manager and Vice President of Marketing & Sales to achieve their goals. The ideal candidate has both Electron Microscopy and Histology Lab experience.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and grow sales of our Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Life Science-related products, our Light Microscope (LM) lines as well as related LM supplies and supplies for other types of microscopy.
  • Learn our PELCO BioWave™ line of products with a goal of becoming the company subject matter expert for product development, sales and support.
  • Keeps current with cutting edge technologies as well as use of existing technologies and also shares these updates within the relevant internal staff.
  • Be engaged in Life Science product development, both for items we design and manufacture as well as those we resell.
  • Collaborate with our Graphics department for Life Science new product photography, brochure development, social media messaging construction, web placement, trade show signage, and other related marketing collateral.
  • Generate manuals, updates and technical notes for instruments to support Life Science customers and our website.
  • Manage product quotations activities related to Life Science products with customer follow up to generate sales.
  • Develop sales forecasts for the relevant product groups.
  • Assist customers with Life Science technical questions.
  • Manage Life Science-related trade show preparations and represent the company at those trade shows.
  • Collaborate with team members on product applications and product development.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Biological Sciences or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience preferred. Working with distribution sales is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Histology /Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) laboratory experience, instrument use and knowledge of TEM specimen preparation techniques, including experience with nanotechnology. The following TEM applications areas highly desirable for this position and so considered a plus:
    • Cryo-EM experience
    • Immuno EM experience
    • Certification in Biological TEM through MSA
  • General knowledge of laboratory instruments, consumables, and applications for both research and clinical laboratories, specifically:
    • Lab Instrumentation
    • Laboratory Consumables
    • Tissue Processing for both electron microscopy and light microscopy
    • Immunohistochemistry
    • Animal research
    • Knowledgeable in the use of different types of microtome- vibratory slicer, rotary microtome, cryo-microtome, and ultra-microtome
  • Knowledgeable in the following areas of the Life Sciences:
    • Pathology
    • Neuroscience
    • Immunology
  • Knowledgeable with the various areas of Light microscopy, with practical hands-on experience preferred.
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) lab experience is a plus.
  • Experience with public speaking and leading meetings.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate on a team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with co-workers and build relationships with clients.
  • Superior attention to details and problem diagnosis and solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language fluently for writing and speaking.
  • Proficient in current versions of Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other standard office technology.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to trade shows, clients, workshops.
  • This position is a full time “on-site” position located in Redding, CA.
  • Must be authorized to work in U.S. without sponsorship.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and/or as needed on weekends and evenings for attending tradeshows and traveling.

Salary/Benefits:

The annual salary range is $90,133.33 - $126,186.67 plus an excellent benefit package. Pay rate is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include a generous medical, dental and life insurance plan, a 401(k) plan with Company match, paid vacation, sick, and holidays.
