Sr. Applications Developer/DBA

Ted Pella, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Applications Developer/DBA to join our IT team. This person will analyze complex business requirements and processes, prepare application system specifications, and will be responsible for hands-on development tasks (design, code, and test) to implement efficient, cost effective application solutions. We are looking for motivated candidates who want to grow with the company and take on more responsibility as the workload dictates.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain SQL databases using scripting languages, and management tools following industry standard best practices.
  • Design, execute, evaluate, troubleshoot, and maintain software programs throughout the entire application life cycle.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for applications being developed. This includes understanding and expanding requirements, technical specifications, design, architecture, implementation, and unit testing.
  • Work within all areas of the development technology stack, from front-end to back utilizing modern technologies to build and implement mission-critical software.
  • Design, build, and maintain custom reports using SSRS and Crystal Reports.
  • Evaluate existing code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, efficient, meets industry standards and is compatible with supported systems.
  • Consult with management and/or development teams to prioritize business needs, review proposed changes, resolve conflicts, select content criteria, and develop solutions.
  • Collaborate with management and users on projects to develop scope, technical requirements, and implementation strategies to integrate these strategies within our environment.
  • Incorporate technical considerations into design strategies to meet performance requirements, security standards and legal concerns including accessibility and privacy.
  • Develop or validate routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address business requirements.
  • Recommend and implement performance improvements.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of current development technologies and best practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional workshops.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to address hardware or software issues affecting our environment.
  • Interact with and support users with complex problems.
  • Maintain or implement marketing analytics technologies, and work with management to tune and optimize reporting.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent IT work experience required.
  • 10+ years of experience in .NET applications development and object-oriented design.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft .NET technologies, including Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, ASMX, WCF Web Services, and
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server development, T-SQL, stored procedures, and database functions.
  • Proficient with Visual Studio integrated development environments that involve Web and Windows service application constructs.
  • Software development using C#, VB, ADO, ASP, and Core, .NET framework programming.
  • Experience with source code management using Subversion Repository Server.
  • Working knowledge of third party APIs.
  • Experience with development technologies, including JavaScript, jQuery, XML, and AJAX preferred. Knowledge of XHTML, HTML5, CSS is a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with ERP systems is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of application security, session management, and secure development best practices.
  • Understanding of server-side technologies for staging purposes and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with application debugging tools.
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills.
  • Flexibility and eagerness to identify, learn, and use new and changing technologies.
  • Extensive use and knowledge of end user programs and application design.


Monday through Friday: 7:30am-4:00pm and/or as needed.
