Associate Warehouse Clerk


Ted Pella, Inc. is seeking candidates for Associate Warehouse Clerk to join our Warehouse team. This person will be primarily assigned to perform pre-pack and/or order pulling duties, but may also be assigned various duties throughout the Warehouse as needed to ensure the best service and support to both internal and external customers. This position reports to the Warehouse Leads, Supervisor, and the Operations Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

Pre-Pack

  • Accurately count, weigh or measure bulk products into smaller volumes for inventory needs.
  • Repackage present stock into smaller or larger sizes to meet order requests as needed.
  • Pre-pack some items for appearance and safety sake.
  • Select the proper packing materials for preparing stock; bags, tubes, boxes, etc.
  • Produce proper label for products on computer.
  • Fill out inventory report on products produced in Pre-pack each day and turn into Warehouse Supervisor or Leads.
  • Maintain and keep current all Pre-pack production cards that describe packing procedures.
  • Responsible for notifying Purchasing when pre-packing materials are low and need to be ordered.
  • Responsible for all equipment in pre-pack room, scales, sealers, etc.
  • Responsible for stocking supplies needed in pre-pack area.

Order Pulling

  • Retrieve picking tickets from Customer Service Department several times daily as they become available.
  • Pull all stock listed on the picking tickets to fill the purchase order. Stock may be located in the Warehouse, Grid Room, or Cool Room, or at other facility.
  • After pulling all of the stock listed on the picking tickets, return to work bench with stock, and double check stock against picking ticket.
  • Pre-pack some items for appearance and safety sake.
  • Select the proper packing materials for preparing stock - bags, tubes, boxes, etc.
  • Print any SDS or Technical Notes needed for products being shipped.
  • Document paperwork properly.
  • Provide ready product order to shipping for shipment.

General duties

  • Ensure neat and organized warehouse at all times.
  • Work with other warehouse staff, customer services, or sales to resolve issues that arise.
  • Assist with any special projects or duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years prior related experience is required; preferably in warehouse or production environment.
  • Must be proficient on computers and able to type. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP system is a plus.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, especially with number sequences.
  • Must be able to learn tasks quickly, and keep up in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Must write legibly.
  • Must have good math skills, and ability to problem solve and make good judgement calls.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Must be neat and clean in work habits.
  • Must be able to hands small items with dexterity and count accurately.
  • Must be able to use precision scale.
  • Must be able to conform to company policies and procedures.
  • Must be very dependable, excellent attendance, and have a strong work ethic.

Physical Job Requirements:

Must have excellent eye sight to recognize lengthy part numbers. Must be capable of being on their feet 8 hours per day and able to get around facility easily. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds occasionally; have the ability to reach overhead and bend or stoop easily to the ground.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a warehouse environment with exposure to temperatures, dust and noise. Must be adaptable to inclement weather in heat and cold as there is no central AC/heat. Will also visit the office environment occasionally.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Pay & Benefits:

Starting pay rate is $13 - $14 per hour to start, or commensurate with experience. This position includes medical, dental, life insurance after 60 days, paid sick time, paid holiday, paid vacation after 90-days, and a 401(k) plan with Company match after 1 year.
