Production Assembly Associate


Ted Pella, Inc. is seeking a full-time Production Assembly Associate to join our manufacturing team to assist the production areas as needed. Generally, this position’s first priority will be assisting Instrument Production, and then it will be performing production duties in Small Part Production. This position reports to the Sr. Production Supervisor and the Director of Manufacturing.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Instrument Production

  • Stock incoming materials, using our SYSPRO ERP business system.
  • Report any Stock on Hand (SOH) and SYSPRO quantity discrepancies.
  • Pull required materials and tooling to complete a job. Report any shortages or damaged material.
  • Kit and stage job materials and tooling at designated workstations.
  • Upon completion of jobs, collect material bins and tooling and return to proper areas.
  • Label and organize materials bins, tooling and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Lead and Supervisor to determine production staging.
  • Assist all Production Technicians as needed.

Small Parts Production

  • Stock incoming materials, using SYSPRO ERP business system.
  • Report any Stock on Hand (SOH) and SYSPRO quantity discrepancies.
  • Pull required materials to complete a job from the stockroom and report any shortages or damaged material.
  • Fabricate products according to written procedures and instructions.
  • Measure and mix various chemicals, paints, and solvents as needed.
  • Label, weigh, and count product as needed.
  • Assemble and inspect small parts using microscope.
  • Process daily orders and back orders as needed or as instructed.
  • Report any documentation discrepancies.
  • Verify that all fixtures and tooling are properly identified and report any damaged fixtures and/or tooling needing repair or replacement.
  • Ensure that product meets engineering and quality standards.

General

  • Ensure work area is clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. General science knowledge is helpful.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in product assembly and/or warehouse.
  • Demonstrated technical skills, excellent hand-eye coordination and demonstrated fine motor skills manipulation.
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to understand oral and written communications, including work instructions, protocols, and customer requirements.
  • Must have excellent analytical, math and observational skills.
  • Must be able to learn quickly.
  • Must have good judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills, be able to work with others, collaborate on a team, and work independently, as the job duties necessitate.
  • Must be able to speak, read, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be willing and able to grow and improve knowledge of company's products and specialties.
  • Must have good organizational skills, be computer literate, and be dependable.
  • Must have a demonstrated basic level of skill using a recent version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Must be able to learn basic skills of company computerized manufacturing system for small parts production.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.

Physical Job Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to sit, stand, walk, see, use arms and hands to hold, feel and manipulate tools, products and equipment. You will be regularly required to bend, reach; and occasionally be required to kneel, crouch, stoop, climb. Must be able to regularly lift, pull, and push objects that weight up to 10 pounds; occasionally handle heavier items up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a laboratory/assembly/manufacturing/warehouse environment, with regular exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Pay & Benefits:

Hourly pay rate will vary based on experience, between $13 - $14 per hour. This position includes medical, dental and life insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Company match, and paid vacation, sick and holidays.
