PELCO® 2-Hour Epoxy Mount Kit

for optical clarity, high hardness, low viscosity and good adhesion

The PELCO® Epoxy Mount Kit uses a cold embedding material designed for metallography, ceramography, geology and petrology samples. Used for light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and micro probe analysis. It is low viscosity, low exotherm reaction and low shrinkage.

It can be used in conjunction with vacuum impregnation to ensure complete and void-free embedding. The cured resin is extremely hard, optically clear, and has excellent bond strength. It gives excellent polish and edge retention to the sample. Polymerization time is 2 hours at 77° F (25° C). Mixing ratio is 2:1 per volume (resin 2 parts to hardener 1 part).

PELCO® 24-Hour Epoxy Mount Kit

for optical clarity, high hardness, low viscosity and good adhesion

The PELCO® 24-Hour Epoxy Mount Kit has the same optical clarity, high hardness, low shrinkage and low viscosity as our 2-Hour epoxy kit, but with a much longer pot life (up to one hour) and slower curing (24 hours). This allows for embedding larger batches in one charge and better impregnation of porous samples.. The longer pot life gives ample time to remove trapped gas and to avoid air bubbles in the embedding.

It can be used with vacuum or pressure impregnation to remove trapped gas. The cured resin is extremely hard, optically clear and has excellent bond strength. It gives excellent edge retention during grinding and polishing of metallographic samples. Polymerization time is 24 hours at 77°F (25°C). Mixing ratio is 3:1 per volume (resin 3 parts to hardener 1 part).

PELCO® Epoxy Pump Set

The pumps screw directly onto the gallon, 1/2 gallon or quart bottles of resin and hardener allowing for quick, exact and clean dispensing. The pumps dispense one fluid once per stroke. For example, if 3 oz. are required, two strokes of one pump and one of the other, will deliver the correct ratio.

PELCO® Acrylimet

PELCO® Acrylimet for quick turn-around sample embedding using a castable resin system comprising an acrylic powder with liquid solvent/ hardener. With a room temperature cure time of 5 – 8 minutes following mixing, a cured hardness of approximately 85 Shore D, only moderate shrinkage and being semi-transparent, PELCO® Acrylimet is ideal for quickly embedding electronic components, printed circuit board cross sections and a variety of materials science samples ready for metallographic sample preparation.

PELCO Acrylimet Epoxy Kit Technovit Cast 4006

NEW Kulzer Technovit® 4006 Acrylic System

Kulzer Technovit® 4006 is a highly transparent* methyl methacrylate-based two-component embedding medium consisting of powder and liquid. Kulzer Technovit® 4006 is used for applications that require a high degree of transparency such as electronic device failure analysis and printed wiring board quality control. With its short polymerization time, it is particularly suitable for routine, quick turnaround work. While the mixing ratio can be varied according to the desired fluidity, a ratio of 2:1 is recommended. Handling time is up to 4 minutes after mixing and curing time is 9 – 13 minutes at 22° C.

PELCO Acrylimet Epoxy Kit Technovit Cast 5071

NEW Kulzer Technovit® 5000 Acrylic System

Kulzer Technovit® 5000 is an electrically conductive polymer based on a modified methyl methacrylate containing dendritic copper particles.

Kulzer Technovit® 5000 has a handling time of approximately 1 minute after mixing and has a curing time of 7 – 12 minutes. It is particularly suitable for embedding samples that are to be: examined with a scanning electron microscope or with microprobe; or processed in an electro-polishing device.

PELCO Acrylimet Epoxy Kit Technovit Cast 5071

NEW Kulzer Technovit® 5071 Acrylic System

The special distinguishing feature of Kulzer Technovit® 5071 is that it can be re-dissolved chemically. This enables the resin to be removed from samples that require further analysis without the encapsulating resin following sample preparation. Kulzer Technovit® 5071 can be dissolved with acetone, trichloroethylene or dichloromethane. Kulzer Technovit® 5071 is suitable for use in SEMs. With its excellent surface wettability and adhesive properties Kulzer Technovit® 5071 can be used as an adhesive for metals and can also be used for the application of strain gauges to a variety of materials.

Kulzer Technovit® 5071 is versatile and suitable for routine embedding work due to the range of mixing ratios and fast polymerization time (4 – 6 minutes). It can be mixed at ratios of 1:1 up to 3:1 of powder/liquid depending on the respective requirements and the required flow properties. A mixing ratio of 2:1 is generally recommended. Handling time after mixing is 2 minutes at 22° C.

NEW Kulzer Technovit® 2000 Light Cure LC Acrylic System

Kulzer Technovit® 2000 Light Cure LC is a single component blue light curing resin that provides high transparency mounts cured at up to 90° C for a 1" / 25mm mount in as little as 20 minutes using the Kulzer Technotray® POWER Light Curing module. For temperature sensitive components, the polymerization generated heat can be lessened to about 50° C by pouring and curing thin successive layers over a longer time period along with power cycling the blue light. Kulzer Technovit® 2000 Light Cure LC comes in a 1 liter bottle. An 80ml sample bottle is also available but will need a 430-490nm blue light source for polymerization, such as the Kulzer Technotray® POWER Light Curing Unit below. Best used with clear polyethylene molds.

NEW Kulzer Technotray® POWER Light Curing Unit

The Kulzer Technotray® POWER Light Curing Unit is a blue light (430-490nm) cure unit designed for the polymerization of Kulzer Technovit light-curing resins.

With six 9W blue light emitting lamps, enough power is generated such that transparent mounting cups filled as deep as 30mm with Kulzer light curing resin can be fully polymerized.

Operates on 230V/50Hz or 110V/60Hz (voltage input switchable).

LC Covering Varnish

NEW Kulzer Technovit® 2000 LC Covering Varnish (#813-581)

Used to prevent the possibility of a dispersion layer forming on the reverse side of the mounted specimen (top of mount). It provides a clear, dry, hard surface following polymerization. It is applied about half way through the curing process in a single layer of a few millimeters on top of the partly polymerized Kulzer Technovit® 2000 Light Cure LC. It is also useful for embedding sample identification labels on top of the mount.
