Section 3: Hazard Identification
Emergency overview
Appearance: Clear pale yellow viscous liquid with a slight odor.
Immediate effects: ND
Potential health effects
Primary Routes of entry: Inhalation, eye contact.
Signs and Symptoms of Overexposure: Local irritation.
Eyes: Moderate to strong eye irritation.
Skin: Not expected to be a primary skin irritant.
Ingestion: Not expected to be toxic by ingestion.
Inhalation: May cause some degree of respiratory tract irritation.
Chronic Exposure: NE
Chemical Listed As Carcinogen Or Potential Carcinogen: No.
See Toxicological Information (Section11)
Potential environmental effects
See Ecological Information (Section 12)
Section 4: First Aid Measures
If accidental overexposure is suspected
Eye(s) Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, holding eyelids apart. Get medical attention if irritation or other symptoms occur.
Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation
develops or persists.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial
respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek medical
attention.
Ingestion: Get medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Note to physician
Treatment: ND
Medical Conditions generally Aggravated by Exposure: ND
Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures
Flash Point: 333°F, 167°C (BPF)
Flammable Limits: ND
Auto-ignition point: ND
Fire Extinguishing Media: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical, alcohol foam.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Can burn in fire releasing toxic
vapors. Using water can cause frothing with increasing fire
intensity. Evacuate area and fight fire from a safe distance. Wear
pressure demand self-contained breathing apparatus (MSHA/NIOSH approved or
equivalent) and full protective gear.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: None.
Hazardous combustion products: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and dense smoke.
DOT Class: Not regulated
Section 6: Accidental Release Measures
Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled: Absorb spill with
inert material (e.g., dry sand or earth), then peace in a chemical waste
container. Contain spilled liquid with sand or earth. Retain all
contaminated water for removal and treatment. Clean up spills
immediately. This material should be prevented from contaminating soil or
from entering sewerage and drainage systems and bodies of water.
Waste Disposal Methods: Dispose of waste according to Federal, State and Local
Regulations.
Section 7: Handling and Storage
Precautions to be Taken in Handling and Storage: Use
with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash
exposed skin thoroughly after handling. Keep container closed when not in
use.
Storage temperature: Ambient
Storage Pressure: ND
Section 8: Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Engineering Controls
Ventilation required: Local exhaust ventilation, process enclosures or other controls to control sources of dust, mist or vapor.
Personal Protection Equipment
Respiratory protection: None under normal conditions. Use a NIOSH/MSHA approved air-purifying respirator as needed to control exposure. Use a positive pressure air supplied respirator for uncontrolled releases or when air-purifying respirator limitations may be exceeded.
Protective gloves: Rubber gloves.
Skin protection: Clean protective body-covering clothing.
Eye protection: Chemical goggles or safety glasses.
Additional clothing and/or equipment: None.
