Emergency overview
Appearance: Amber liquid
Immediate effects: Irritant to the eyes, respiratory tract and the gastric system. Can cause burns to the eyes. Solvents should not be used to clean skin because of increased penetration potential. Protective skin oils can be dissolved by solvents.
Potential health effects
Primary Routes of entry: Skin,
eyes, inhalation and ingestion.
Signs and Symptoms of Overexposure:
Eyes: Irritating to the eyes. Can cause burns and/or injury.
Skin: May cause dermatitis and skin sensitization in some individuals.
Ingestion: Contains material that may be moderately toxic. Ingestion can upset the gastric system.
Inhalation: Hot vapors if inhaled can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness and respiratory irritation.
Chronic Exposure: Repeated and/or prolonged exposures may result in adverse respiratory effects such as cough, tightness of chest or shortness of breath; adverse eye effects such as conjunctivitis corneal damage, rash, irritation or corrosion.
