Section 3: Hazard Identification
Emergency overview
Appearance: Clear liquid
Immediate effects: Reaction product of epichlorohydrin and bisphenol A is considered hazardous under OSHA’s Hazardous Communication Standards under 29 CFR, 1910.1200. Solvents should not be used to clean skin because of increased penetration potential. Protective skin oils can be dissolved by solvents.
Potential health effects
Primary Routes of entry: Eyes,
inhalation, ingestion and skin.
Signs and Symptoms of Overexposure:
Eyes: Extremely irritating with the possibility of permanent eye injury.
Skin: Skin irritation may be experienced with some individuals.
Ingestion: Contains material that may be moderately toxic. Ingestion can upset the gastric system.
Inhalation: Hot vapors if inhaled can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness and respiratory irritation.
Chronic Exposure: Combinations of above conditions can be experienced.
Chemical Listed As Carcinogen Or Potential Carcinogen: None
See Toxicological Information (Section11)
Potential environmental effects
See Ecological Information (Section 12)
Section 4: First Aid Measures
If accidental overexposure is suspected
Eye(s) Contact: Flush well with water. Seek medical attention immediately.
Skin Contact: Clean with soap
and water. Do not use solvents. Remove contaminated clothing.
Inhalation: Seek medical attention immediately.
Ingestion: Remove to fresh air. If discomfort persists seek medical attention.

Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures
Flash Point: 400 °F (204 °C)
Flammable Limits: ND
Auto-ignition point: ND
Fire Extinguishing Media: Alcohol foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemical.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Remove all ignition sources. Use a water
spray to cool fire exposed containers. Wear full protective clothing and
OSHA/NIOSH self-contained breathing apparatus with full face piece.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Avoid fumes liberated by heat.
Hazardous combustion products: May produce carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.
DOT Class: Not restricted
Section 6: Accidental Release
Measures
Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled: Eliminate ignition
sources. Use personal protection equipment (Section 8). Place leaking
containers in a well ventilated area. Contain with absorbent material such as
clay, soil or any commercially available absorbent. Transfer contaminated absorbent,
soil and other materials into recovery or salvage drums for disposal.
Waste Disposal Methods: Dispose of waste according to Federal, State and Local
Regulations.
Section 7: Handling and
Storage
Precautions to be Taken in Handling and Storage: Avoid contact with skin and
eyes. Avoid breathing vapors. Solvents should not be used to clean skin because
of increased penetration potential-protective skin oils can be dissolved by
solvents. Keep container closed when not in use.
Storage temperature: ND
Storage Pressure: ND
Section 8: Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Engineering Controls
Ventilation required: Local exhaust recommended for exposure control.
Personal Protection Equipment
Respiratory protection: Use OSHA/NIOSH approved respiratory protection if level of air contaminants is excessive.
Protective gloves: Impervious
gloves-neoprene or equivalent. A combination of barrier cream and gloves is
recommended.
Skin protection: For operations where contact can occur, use a face shield and
impervious apron.
Eye protection: Chemical splash goggles recommended.
Additional clothing and/or equipment: Eyewash and safety shower are
recommended.
