BA410 Biological Light Microscope

Clinical and research grade microscope

The BA410 with CCIS^® optics allow new accessories and functions to be incorporated in the BA410 series microscope. The CCIS^® (Color Corrected Infinity System) optics delivers uncompromised optical clarity and unrivalled versatility. The CCIS^® infinity design has succeeded in achieving longer working distance objectives with higher numerical aperture giving increased optical performance and versatility. The BA410 microscope stand, with its innovative mechanical design, represents an excellent platform for high quality optical imaging and ease of use for longer periods of time. The microscope incorporates many features found on more expensive microscopes.

Microscope Stand

The BA410 has been designed for optimum performance coupled to ergonomic use. The microscope stand integrates all functions providing effective ergonomics and maximum expandability. The wide arm provides strength and rigidity, the inverted "Y" design gives enhanced lateral stability. The BA410 is designed to meet the requirements of a professional microscope and has a minimized footprint to conserve the limited desk space in today's modern laboratories.

Light Source

The 6V/30W halogen Koehler illumination system provides bright, even illumination at any magnification. The centerable lamp is housed externally and has an externally operated control mechanism for all facets of illumination. A diffuser is located in the base of the microscope and can be easily operated through a selector switch.

Observation Tubes In order to maintain absolute parfocality, the Siedentopf eyepiece tubes will not change their length when interpupillary adjustments are made. The inclination of 30° for the binocular and trinocular tubes is chosen for comfort and posture management. By using the optionally available eye level risers, the user can raise the eye level up to a maximum of 60mm in 20mm steps. Two trinocular versions are also available featuring professional light distribution sliders either for 100% binocular /100% photo tube or 100% binocular and 20/80% for binocular/photo. The trinocular heads are ideal for digital documentation and video projection. Focusable Eyepieces The standard Widefield 10x eyepieces of the BA410 with an enlarged field of view of 22mm provides enlarged viewing fields for faster scanning and easier viewing. Parfocal focus is provided by independent diopter adjustment on each eyepiece. Users wearing eyeglasses will find the eyepieces' high eye point design very comfortable to use. Various reticles for measuring and counting are available for these eyepieces.

Quintuple Revolving Nosepiece The reversed design of the nosepiece means that when using the BA410, the user has more space to change specimen slides offering easy access and limiting damages to slides or objectives. The nosepiece features a long-life ball bearing mechanism with positive click-stop to ensure that each change of objective is accurate and centered.

CCIS® Plan Achromat Phase

Objectives Crisp and distortion-free with improved working distances, the CCIS® objectives of the BA410 continue to expand the microscope platform into different application realms. All objectives integrate effortlessly into the quintuple nosepiece of the BA410 to keep the focus on the specimen and task. Developed with the worst environments envisioned, all CCIS®' objectives are anti-fungus treated to prolong the life of both the microscope and objectives.

Condenser

The newly developed swing-out Achromat condenser with a numerical aperture of 0.9 provides homogeneous illumination for observation and microphotography at all magnification from 2x to 100x. The substage condenser is height adjustable via a precise rack and pinion mechanism and has a dovetail mount with clamp screw.

The phase contrast turret condenser with a numerical aperture of 1.25 has four phase positions and a BF position with iris diaphragm. This type of condenser is particularly useful for studies where rapid change between illumination techniques is required.

Rectangular Mechanical Stage

The BA410 comprises a large (174mm x145mm) hard coated mechanical stage with a travel range of 76mm x 50mm. Controlling the movement of the stage is made easy by low positioned coaxial control knobs. The stage surface is protected with a hard coating against abrasion and wear. The user can set the upper stage drive stop to prevent damage to objectives or to accommodate slides of different thicknesses. The stage can be rotated for composition in photomicrography.

Polarized light Two filter slots in the upper part of the stand accommodate slides with an analyzer and a first order red compensator (535nm) for screening possible cases of gout. The slide mounted analyzer is removable for quick changes between polarizing and standard bright field imaging. The polarizer is installed over the field lens.
