The Motic AE31 Research grade inverted Epi-Fluorescence microscopes provide excellent optical quality and unmatched operational convenience. The CCIS infinity design has succeeded in achieving longer working distances with higher Numerical Apertures (NA) representing a significant improvement in optical performance and versatility.
A complete range of eyepieces and objectives are available to configure the AE31 for your application: all options are shown below.
Light Source for Fluorescence MicroscopyIn order to generate enough excitation light intensity to furnish secondary fluorescence emission capable of detection, a powerful light source is needed. The Motic Research grade inverted Epi-Fluorescence microscope uses a powerful 100W mercury lamp, which produces high-intensity illumination powerful enough to image faintly visible fluorescence specimens. The microscope filter combinations (often referred to as cubes or blocks) that contain a combination of dichroic mirrors and filters are capable of exciting fluorescent chromophores and diverting the resulting secondary fluorescence to the eyepieces or camera tube. A wide spectrum of filter cubes are available which now produce filter sets capable of imaging most of the common fluorophores in use today. |
Microscope StandThe design of the AE31 series Research grade inverted Epi-Fluorescence microscopes have been optimized to integrate all functions enabling effective ergonomics and maximum expandability. The wide base provides strength and rigidity; furthermore the inverted "Y" support at the back on the base provides extra lateral stability. The size of the microscope is compact to minimize the footprint and conserve the limited desk space available in modern laboratories. The ergonomic design of the AE31 Research grade inverted Epi-Fluorescence microscope enables easy and stress-free operation. The coaxial coarse/fine focusing knobs, controls for the stage and light intensity, are placed conveniently at your finger tips to minimize fatigue. |
Brightfield Light SourceThe 6V/30W halogen Koehler illumination system provides bright, even illumination at any magnification. The "only-one-in-its-class" centerable lamp is housed externally and has an externally operated control mechanism for all facets of illumination. A segmented illumination intensity indicator is ideally located for easy viewing. |
Observation TubesIn order to maintain absolute parfocality, the Siedentopf eyepiece tubes will not change their length when interpupillary adjustments are made. The inclination of 45° for the binocular and trinocular tubes is chosen for comfort and posture management. Two trinocular versions are also available featuring professional light distribution sliders either for 100% binocular /100% photo tube or 100% binocular and 20/80% for binocular/photo. The trinocular heads are ideal for digital documentation and video projection. |
Focusable EyepiecesThe standard Wide field 10x eyepieces for the AE31 with an enlarged field of view of 22mm provides enlarged viewing fields for faster scanning and easier viewing. Parfocal focus is provided by independent diopter adjustment on each eyepiece. Users wearing eyeglasses will find the eyepieces' high eye point design very comfortable to use. Various graticules for measuring and counting are available for these eyepieces. |
Quintuple Revolving NosepieceThe revolving side facing nosepiece accepts five objectives. It runs on precision ball bearings and has internal positive click stops so that the image remains centered after each change in magnification. The internal components and the optics are sealed against fluid spills to ensure reliable and trouble-free usage. This allows the operator to concentrate fully on imaging the specimen and not to worry about accidentally damaging the microscope. |
ObjectivesThe CCIS objectives for inverted microscopes have long free working distances in comparison to normal objectives of the same magnification. The objectives are optically corrected to compensate for 1.1mm thick glass slides and provide easy routine operation. |
Phase contrast is the most popular optical contrast method for viewing the detailed structure of unstained or living specimens. The Phase Plan Achromat objectives, coupled with the easy to operate phase slider, provide outstanding contrast for the most demanding applications. For a quick and easy change of magnification, two annular rings are provided on the non-centered phase slider. The center position on the slider is designated for bright field microscopy.
Condenser MountThe centerable condenser mount is height adjustable with rack and pinion and is dovetail mounted on the illuminating pillar with a solid clamp screw. The ELWD condenser with a numerical aperture of 0.30 and a working distance of 72mm is suitable for objectives of magnification from 4x - 40x with an aperture diaphragm in the bright field Koehler illumination and for phase contrast. The phase annular ring Ph1 for 10x and 20x and Ph3 for 40x are centered by Allen Hex keys on the centerable slider. The center position on each slider is designated for bright field usage. |
Mechanical Stage and accessoriesThe standard stage is a fixed stage plate: the stage can be widened on both sides with auxiliary stage plates. A hard coating protects the stage surface from abrasion and wear. The tempered glass stage insert allows for checking the objective being used without removing the specimen from the stage. |
An optional attachable mechanical stage with Well plate holder with low positioned
coaxial controls is available. The mechanical stage also accepts interchangeable
specimen holders for Petri dishes and glass slides.
