Comparison microscopy is the most important technique in the field of forensic firearms and toolmark examination and comparison. Similar to other forms of visible light microscopy, comparison microscopy allows simultaneous examination of two separate objects by either regular brightfield microscopy or by stereo microscopy. This digital comparison microscopy software is designed for easy use and is priced at a fraction of the cost of comparison microscopes. This eloquent software package allows real time image overlay with independent resizing and rotation of the object. This software can used on a live or stored set of images it also allows the simultaneous comparison of the unique striations and impressed marks found on the surfaces of objects bearing toolmarks (including fired bullets and cartridge cases). This software can be used to compare and investigate handwriting, fabrics, hair, surface scratches etc. The software requires that you have two Motic digital microscopes or microscopes equipped with Moticam digital cameras with standard software. Alternately, 2 Motic cameras and the Trace software packages can be purchased together at a reduced price. Available for both PC (XP or higher) and Mac (OSX or higher).
