Diamond Ruled Stage Micrometer
Diamond Ruled Stage  

The Diamond Ruled Stage Micrometer is made on a glass substrate with diamond cutting tools resulting in very fine well defined lines. The clear lines are ruled through a semi-opaque metal film which, observed with transmitted light, appear as bright lines on a dark background. The lines are 1um or less wide and 3.5mm long. The metric rulings provide a scale of 1mm divided into 0.01mm parts with the 0.9 to 1mm part subdivided into 0.1mm parts. This micrometer is made on a glass slide 76 x 26 x 1.2mm thick with pattern in the centre.

The England Finder is a glass slide marked over the top surface in a way that a referenced position can be directly read relative to the locating edges.
All England Finders produced by Graticules for over 40 years are identical. The purpose of the finder is to give the microscopist an easy method of recording the position of a particular field of interest, so that the same position can be re-located at a later date, or by another person in another laboratory, or when using any other England Finder on any other microscope.
The location of the arrows is identical for all England Finder slides. Mark a label on the left hand side of the specimen slide, indicating the orientation to be repeated. By replacing the specimen slide with the England Finder, taking care not to disturb the position, the feature of interest can be noted. The feature an also be re-located at another place or time by reversing the procedure. Over 1,800 positions on a 76 x 26mm slide can be accurately located. Slide thickness is 1.35mm ±0.05mm. Nominal line width is 0.025mm.

Sedgewick Rafter Counting Chambers are used in water analysis, culture inspection and applications where particles per unit volume must be ascertained. The Chamber consists of a 2mm thick clear base slide measuring 76 x 40mm. A rectangular chamber has been built onto this base. A coverglass is then placed atop the chamber.

The Chamber measures 50mm L x 20mm W x 1mm deep with a grid-marked base of 1000 1mm squares. When the chamber is filled with liquid and the coverglass in place, a 1 ml volume of liquid is trapped. Under low magnification with a light microscope, each grid square is equivalent to 1 microliter(ul) of liquid.

Sedgewick Rafter Chambers are available in an economical plastic version for education and training and a professional version with high quality optical glass with a chromium surface image. The coverglass is compatible with both chamber versions.
