The lid can be removed when needed and rested on a countertop without the danger of dust and dirt adhering to a greasy surface. The lid lifts up instead of sliding sideways. It is necessary that the sleeve valve be lubricated with silicone based vacuum grease (Product No. 891-7, Dow Corning High Vacuum Grease) to increase vacuum duration and prevent freezing. Clean design with Wheaton® "810" brand glass.

Desiccant Packs for Glass Vacuum Desiccators

Designed for the 150mm and 250mm sizes. The desiccant pack is placed in the bowl of the desiccator under the aluminum plate to preserve an anhydrous atmosphere within the evacuated desiccator. The desiccant is enclosed in fabric and perforated plastic for a dust-free environment and is supplied in a sealed foil package.

Reactivation is carried out (after the Pack loses its blue color and turns pink) by placing the desiccant, with perforated side down, in a vented oven and heating for about three hours at about 175°C (350°F) or until the blue color returns.

Vacu-Storr™ High Vacuum Storage Containers

The Vacu-Storr™ high vacuum storage containers (desiccators) were developed to store materials which are sensitive to dust, moisture, oxygen and other gases found in the environment. The Vacu-Storr™ is capable of pumping down to vacuum levels of 10^-4 mbar. With a higher conductance valve and capable pump even 10^-6 mbar is achievable. The clean design of these high-tech desiccators with soda-lime glass containers, nickel-plated aluminum cap, viton vacuum seal and metal valve with PTFE shaft seal is capable of holding a vacuum for 5 years to 0.1 bar (atmosphere). Vacuum connection for pump-down is 1/4" (6.35mm) barb fitting. Shielded with protective plastic mesh for implosion protection. Available in four sizes:
