Largest available selection of Pin Stub Mounts for Cambridge, Leica, ZEISS/LEO, FEI/Philips, CamScan, Tescan, AMRAY and ETEC SEM's. All Pin Stubs have the most commonly used 3.2mm (1/8") pin diameter and a choice of head sizes ranging from 6.5 to 32mm for optimum fit of specimen sizes. Special Pin Stubs are offered with 45° and 90° angles for convenient mounting of specimens and study of cross sections.

Mini Pin Stubs

Mini pin stubs are ideal for small samples or parts which need to be examined individually. Takes less space with a head diameter of 6.5mm, small samples are easier to locate and it is a low cost alternative for the standard 12.7mm pin stub.
Available with the standard 3.2mm pin in two lengths: most common 9.5mm length for many SEM's and shorter 6.25mm for ZEISS/LEO SEM's. This mini pin stub is available in three materials:
  • Aluminum - for standard imaging applications
  • Copper - for Cryo and heating stage applications
  • Stainless Steel (18-8) - as a non-corrosive and cleaner alternative for environmental SEM's and FESEM

10mm diameter, 75 mesh grids can be mounted on an SEM mount for help in identifying areas of interest in which analyses are carried out. Valuable for particle analyses (pollen, for example) and environmental particle counting experiments. Thickness is 20µm.

Finder Grid for SEM Specimens

SEM specimens may be relatively large and the area to be selected for viewing small in comparison.

A central annulus surrounds the required area, with a small pointer for orientation. The long arms are tapered to show the direction in which to move and are identified by N, S, E, W. Two small markers of 500µm and 300µm lengths are incorporated in the central ring. The inner ring is 2mm inside diameter and 4mm outside diameter. It is 16mm across the legs.

The SEM Finder Grid is placed in position using a light microscope. Instructions with the Finder Grids indicate various attaching methods. Finding the prescribed area of interest will be much easier by finding the metal grid, following the leg taper and finally reaching the hole, where an arrow has been oriented to point to the specimen. The rough magnification indicators will assist in gross sizing of the specimen. Thickness is approx. 12µm.
